Caraway Speedway was built in 1966.  It remained a dirt track until 1972 when it joined the Nascar Weekkly Racing Series Family as a .455 mile oval asphalt short track.  Russell & Valastra Hackett have owned & operated the track since 1977.

In '98 - 99 half a million dollars was spent repaving the track surface, reconstructing the track retaining walls, refurbishing the grandstands, concreting the walkway in front of the grandstands, new flag stand, new press box/tower and the adding of new fencing.

In 2000 the fans will see one million dollars being spent  new reserved grandstand seating, beautifully landscaped new entrance, ticket booth, restroom,  concession stand, restroom and scoreboard.  When the project is complete a total of one and a half million dollars will have been spent to bring the track into the new millennium.
